'59 Clone Jazzmaster® Pickup
Mojotone Jazzmaster® clones represent the most spectacular '59 Jazzmaster® pickups in every way. We use Alnico 5 cast rod magnets and vintage-correct plain enamel wire with vulcanized fiberboard flatwork. The coils are handwound, but not at random - we found a specific tension and winding pattern that made them sing and we replicated that perfectly.
Original Jazzmaster pickups exhibited many irregularities when it came to output and tone, mostly because they were hand-wound without the accuracy or consistency that we can achieve today. However, the ones that were special had an unmistakable power and warmth that stood out above the rest, so we were driven to recreate them.
Unlike the originals, we designed these with a slightly hotter bridge pickup for impeccable balance between all positions. The neck pickup is clear and loud with exceptional clarity and warmth. The bridge pickup has a loose feel with lots of power and tone just like a killer '59 Jazzmaster® pickup. Reverse wound for hum-cancelling when both pickups are together. No doubt we nailed it. Vacuum potted coils.
All of our pickups are proudly built in Burgaw, NC!
